Boyne City Rotarians finish pavilion,
take over car show
From the Petoskey News-Review, 8-27-08: The Boyne City Rotary
Club is at a turning point in its community fundraising efforts. The
86-year-old club just completed a four-year-long project that will come
as a relief to many Boyne-area families. The Rotarians recently turned
over to city parks and recreation crews the keys to a brand new pavilion
at Rotary Park. The pavilion, which houses mens and womens
bathrooms, a concessions area, storage space and a covered picnic area
is valued at more than $120,000, Rotary officials said. And now the
club is expanding its fundraising efforts to a new venture as it takes
over the Boyne City Labor Day Car Show from its original organizer,
Mike Stowe of Great Lakes Motor Works. Full
story.
What
is Rotary?
Rotary club members are a part of a diverse group of professional leaders
working to address various community and international service needs.
Through community service and other means, Rotary club members help
promote peace and understanding throughout the world. Our members are
our most important asset. They are the force that allows Rotary to carry
out its many humanitarian efforts and achieve its mission.
Why
Join Rotary?
Each Rotary club strives for a membership that is an up-to-date and
progressive representation of its community's business, vocational and
professional interests. Membership in Rotary offers a number of benefits,
including:
- Effecting
change within the community
- Developing
leadership skills
- Gaining
an understanding of - and having an impact on - international humanitarian
issues
- Developing
relationships with community and business leaders
- Rotary
membership is by invitation of local clubs. If you would like to
be considered for membership by the Boyne Rotary Club, contact President
Tami Whitley or any Boyne Rotarian for further information.
